Preserve History. Shape the Future.

$749,619 raised$1,000,000 goal

The Pleasant View Historical Site was once the center of the African American community of Quince Orchard, MD. It continues to stand as a testament to our history – a memorial to our triumph – and we, as a community, must refuse to let it be forgotten.

Our mission is to preserve, maintain, and protect this three-acre site to African American history and culture in order to educate present and future generations.

Your gift of support ensures we can protect this piece of history for Montgomery County, MD for the next 150 years while providing people with the lessons learned through education, faith, and traditions that make a strong community. When we reach our fundraising goal we'll be able to shape a bright future for the Pleasant View historical site. Our vision is to:

  • Restore the historic church and schoolhouse to it’s original beauty.

  • Rebuild the multi-purpose building that was lost to fire.

  • House memorabilia and artifacts illustrative of the African American experience in Quince Orchard, MD.

  • Create a community gathering space for educational and cultural programming.

Quince Orchard was built by Doers, now it's your turn to join them. Become a Pleasant View Doer by creating your own personal fundraising page and collecting funds for Pleasant View's mission.
